Lauren produced a big part of our Virginia Tech coverage, which won the 2007 breaking news award from the Online News Association. In the "Stories From the Scene" section, Lauren produced and narrated all of the slideshows except for "Memorials on Campus."

When she was sent to cover the Minnesota bridge collapse, she wrangled a great deal of content quickly and helped coordinate the production of this interactive:

Her audio slideshow skills are excellent, but her talents are usually used in editing others' work and teaching colleagues how to tell stories this way. So her clips are few – but here are three examples:

As an "evangelizer" for multimedia, Lauren has been an effective teacher. She has earned the credibility of colleagues she deals with on a daily basis and as a hands-on coach for the seven multimedia training sessions we've held in the last year with John Dowling. To that end, she has also has helped us improve our documentation so that the training sticks when people go back to their bureaus.

Lauren manages this training site:

And she wrote the lion's share of the multimedia stylebook:

Also, I forgot to mention ... Lauren helped lead a training session that resulted in award-winning work. The audio slideshows produced at the first multimedia training session, in June 2007 in New Orleans, were packaged into an interactive that was part of award-winning coverage.

This interactive was submitted as part of Katrina multimedia coverage, which won the Editor & Publisher/Mediaweek EPpy Award for best special feature in a Web site-enterprise.
